Following the Torbay Council Overview and Scrutiny report highlighting how to improve the post office service in Torbay, local MP Adrian Sanders is calling on residents to make their views known to national Government to further press the case.
The Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Select Committee is holding an online forum to collect the public’s views to contribute to their recommendations.
To view the forum and make your views known, visit: http://forums.parliament.uk/post-office-future. The forum runs until March 10th.
Adrian has been pushing for the Government to consider putting its new financial advice service, which is currently being trialled in the North of England, into post offices, shoring up the role of these important community hubs.
A successful campaign involving Adrian, local businesses and residents, recently saved two Torquay post offices cited for closure by the Government.
Adrian said: “The Overview and Scrutiny report is very positive-hopefully the council can be persuaded to fully support post offices in any way possible as a result. National Government also has a role to play and a good start would be to replace all the services plundered from post offices over the past decade.”
“I would urge anyone with a view to contribute to the forum.”
